Three Destinations in One Box
Sani Ikos Group was heading to Miami for a sales event. Agents, travel partners, a gathering where first impressions travel far and stay long. Their goal was to bring with them something that represented three of their destinations at once: Sani Resort, Ikos Porto Petro and Ikos Kissamos. A gift that felt like these places in the hands of someone who had never been. The answer was a curated gift box filled with local products from these regions. Olive oil and honey from producers in Chalkidiki and barley bites from Kissamos in Crete, made to be enjoyed together in the way people have eaten around the Mediterranean for centuries. For the barley bites, Sani Ikos did not yet have a producer or packaging and finding both became part of our work on this project. Beyond that, the brief was generous in the best possible way. They gave us the concept, the three destinations and the products and everything else they left open for us to interpret. We had ten days.
A Box Made to Last Beyond Its Contents
Rather than a box that would be unpacked and discarded, we wanted to create something with a life beyond Miami. A piece of luxury hospitality packaging that would arrive full and then remain, empty, as something worth keeping. A packaging that continues to carry the Sani Ikos identity long after its contents have been enjoyed, sitting on a desk in a travel agency or a shelf at home, doing what no brochure can do. That thinking determined the structure: a traditional hard open top box, clean, spacious and elegant.
The Material You Touch First
The exterior is wrapped in flax fabric and this is the first thing a person touches before the lid opens. What they feel is a surface that came from the earth, because it did. Flax is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world and one of the most resource-light to grow, requiring no irrigation and no chemical fertilizers, with a production cycle that is carbon neutral from field to finished fiber. The material carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification. Independently tested and verifiable, the kind of sustainability that sits naturally alongside Sani Ikos Group’s own ESG commitments, their Sani Green and Ikos Green programmes and their ambition toward net zero by 2030. What it brings to the surface, though, is something harder to put into words and immediately understood the moment you touch it. Warmer than fabric and more textured than anything synthetic.
The Interior
Inside, the base and inner tray are crafted from recycled leather produced from natural tannery waste: leather fibers that had already served one life, bound and pressed into another, with no virgin leather, no PVC and no synthetic coatings. The outer shell sits in a warm natural brown and the inner tray, where the products rest, in white, the same material in two different moods. Both materials are produced in Europe and the whole construction is held together with a water-based adhesive, no solvents, no chemical binders.
The Finishing Details
Two gold magnets secure the lid, sitting alongside the gold foil stamping of the Sani Ikos identity on the exterior. Gold foil was the natural finish for a group of this standing. Warm against the natural texture of the flax, speaking the same visual language as everything else the brand puts into the world. The box measures 26 × 25 × 7.5 cm, a size that feels right in the hands.
The Result
When the finished boxes arrived, the reaction from Sani Ikos was everything you hope for at the end of a ten-day sprint. A gift that had started as a concept, three destinations and a handful of local products, had become something people wanted to keep. And that, in the end, is the only measure that matters.

Sustainability Worth Claiming
The flax fabric exterior carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification and the recycled leather interior is made from post-industrial tannery waste, free from PVC and synthetic coatings and produced in Europe. The construction is handmade throughout. For a group like Sani Ikos with active ESG programmes, a net zero commitment and guests who notice and care these are not decorative choices. They are details that can be named in a sustainability report or explained to a curious guest without hesitation.
All of it was done in ten days.
